There are 59 competitors here at the USBC, all having put time, money and effort into their presentations and their equipment. Each table is divided into four competitor sections, o that means there is a lot of…. stuff here.
With everyone so close together you’d think there is potential for trouble, but in fact the community of baristas backstage is so strong that people are enjoying it. Lots of interaction, not only between close friends, but between baristas meeting for the first time.
Also in there are the three practise machines, where coffee-hungry bloggers hang out and look longingly at the kind baristas prepping shots, and discreetly beg espresso from those kind souls who take pity on us.
